A credit book for hair salons and barbers

In a salon, credit is usually given to trusted regulars: “put it on my tab, I’ll pay next week.” Baki Fast helps you write these small tabs down before they are forgotten, split bridal packages into instalments and remind people with a polite message.

How credit happens in a salon

Hairdressers and barbers know their customers for years. A regular forgets their wallet or is waiting for the end of the month; the work is done and the money comes later. Sometimes products go home too: shampoo, conditioner, hair colour. Each amount is small, but across a few regulars it can add up to a month’s rent.

The large amounts are bridal packages, engagement styling or group bookings before a wedding. These are often paid as a deposit and then over a few months.

What usually goes wrong

  • Remembering: the next client sits down, and a tab that was not written is forgotten.
  • Saying it out loud: telling a long-time client “you owe us” feels like it might hurt the relationship.
  • Staff: if a stylist did not take payment, the owner only finds out in the evening.
  • Package payments: which instalment of the bridal package was paid and which is left becomes unclear.

Setting up a salon book in Baki Fast

  1. Add each client you give credit to as a customer, with the phone number and country code.
  2. Write the service as credit with a short note: “blow-dry and colour” or “cut, 1 shampoo”.
  3. If products were bought too, use item lines: “1 × conditioner × 12”, “1 × service × 35”.
  4. Write a bridal package as one credit entry, record the deposit as a payment straight away and split the rest into instalments up to the wedding date.
  5. At the end of the day, the cash book shows cash takings apart from credit; you can also record costs such as supplies and rent.

A gentle reminder for a regular

Short, gentle reminder

Hi Priya, it’s Ella from Studio Ella. There is 54 left on your tab from your last two visits. We can sort it out at your next appointment or whenever suits you. See you soon!

Keeping tabs from growing

Salon credit usually becomes a problem when one regular’s tab grows slowly over months. Set a credit limit for that client: the app warns you before an entry goes past it, which gives you a natural moment to bring it up kindly. The short note sent after each visit also keeps the client aware of their total, so the balance is never a surprise.

If reminding someone face to face feels hard, send the message the day before their next appointment. The payment reminder generator can help you find the right tone.

Questions

How do I show a deposit on a bridal package?

Write the whole package as credit and enter the deposit as a payment right away. Split the rest into instalments; the statement you send shows everything in date order.

Can my staff write in the book too?

With Pro’s cloud sync you can open the book on another phone; an added phone sees the whole book and can write entries. Only add staff you trust.

Are there ads in the app?

No, Baki Fast has no ads. The basic book is free and unlimited.
